OSRS 1 to 99 Fishing Guide

Fishing is one of the fastest and simplest skills in OSRS to max out. It’s also fun because you make interesting conversations with other players training alongside you. To make things even more ‘simpler’ for you, we have broken down different training methods to create the most efficient guide. We hope you like it!

Quests

You can skip through the early levels by completing the following quests: Fishing Content, Sea Slug, The Fremennik Trials, Tai Bwo Wannai Trio, Recipe for Disaster (Pirate Pete Part), Rum Deal, Heroes Quest, and Swan Song.

Getting Started

Along your journey, you’ll need a Fishing Rod (Bait or Feather), Lobster Pot, Harpoon, and Small/Big Net. Angler’s Outfit is optional for members to increase their overall XP by 2.5%. You can get it from the Fishing Trawler minigame. You’ll also need to complete the quest Pirate’s Treasure.

Level 1 to 20

The first twenty levels are quite simple and you don’t need to give it much thought. Grab a Small Fishing net and start catching shrimps. At level 15, you’ll start netting in Anchovies that grant better EXP.

Level 20 to 40

At level 20, grab your Fishing Rob with stacks of Bait and Feathers, and then head to the Barbarian Village to start fishing Trout and Salmons. You can choose to stay here till level 99, but it gets boring. You can either choose to drop or bank your catch for profit.

Level 40 to 50

At level 40, grab your Lobster Pot and head to Karamja island. If you haven’t completed the Pirate’s Treasure quest, you’ll need to pay a fare for traveling to Musa Point. Just make sure you have coins on you.

Alternatively, you can use the Lobster Fishing spot in Catherby if you’re a member. The bank is much-much closer than Karamja, making it a considerable option to stay till level 63.

Level 50 to 99

At level 50, grab your Harpoon to start catching swordfish along with Tuna. You can consider dropping the Tuna and banking the Swordfish as they’re more of value. F2P players can continue with Lobsters at Karamja or move back to Trout and Salmon till 99.

Level 63 to 99

Entering the Fishing Guild, things will be smoother as it has several spots for Harpoon Fishing, Lobster Fishing, Net Fishing, Rod Fishing, etc. Also, the bank, same like other guilds, is right next to the spot. We suggest that you get an Angler Outfit to boost your experience rate by 2.5%.

Monkfish

You can also consider switching to the Piscatoris Fishing Colony to catch Monkfishes. They give the best profit per hour, which is about 600,000 OSRS Gold. However, you’ll need to complete the Swan Song quest first to enter the colony. Alternatively, you can stay at the Fishing Guild and catch Sharks or Swordfish, which also have a decent profit rate.

Conclusion

So, that’s all from our side. Rest lies in which method you choose to reach the end goal of your journey. We hope our guide was helpful. Good luck!
